'Sunny Came Home' From the Album "A Few Small
Repairs, written by Shawn Colvin and John Leventhal This song has a special importance to me; For several years, Sunny was my nickname, though nobody except my friends in Trivia on AOL called me that. I think the idea of 'walking on a wire' and and the lyric 'I close my eyes and fly out of my mind, into the fire', speaks volumes about my life, and not necessarily in a good way, though the song itself is about something totally different. The song "Sunny Came Home" is sort of about arson, but more about deciding "not to take it anymore"... the lyrics that say "it's time for a few small repairs"...Sunny is going to burn her house down, and begin a new life, leave it all behind. When the song says "dry is good and wind is better" it's talking about the conditions for setting a fire. Shawn talked about this on VH1's StoryTellers. Thanks to Shawn Colvin and Megan Wales for sending me an autographed poster for Christmas! Hear a clip of the song at this link:
