My Travels
Updated 8/06

 Northwest Trip, July 2006

I took my family out of the desert for a week, to visit the rainiest place on earth... Seattle... and Portland as well.  Actually, while we were there, the weather was just wonderful.  Now all of a sudden everyone wants to move there... and I keep telling them... okay, we'll go visit again in February, and then tell me what you think...   We had a great time.  Seattle was beautiful - we toured the waterfront area, the Underground, the Science Fiction Museum, the Aquarium, the Pike Market, and of course the Space Needle.  We went up there to watch the 4th of July fireworks at 600ft., and had a blast.

After leaving Seattle, we drove out to Mount Rainier, and then down into Oregon to Mount Hood.  We stayed in a cozy little log cabin (Hart's Creekside) in Rhododendron, about 15 minutes from the mountain's summit.  We had a fully furnished cabin with an outdoor jacuzzi tub and a view overlooking a bubbling creek.  What more could I ask for? Peace and relaxation!  We drove up to the summit of Mt Hood, and then headed back toward Portland.

In Portland, we took a jetboat tour of the Willamette River and got totally soaked, but had the ride of our lives.  The boat goes to the Willamette Falls and back.  They take you about 40 feet from the Falls.  Very cool.
