Friends and Family

Back in January, 2006, I was a bridesmaid in my friend Heather's wedding.  She and her husband are very active in the SCA, so they chose to have a medieval style wedding.  Heather sewed my dress and most of the other outfits.  They had a harpist and a female soloist, and it was really such a sweet experience.  I caught the bouquet...

My friend Amber and I met Arizona Diamondbacks' slugger Luis Gonzalez in Tucson during Spring Training.  We were at Sakura, having some Teppan Yaki cuisine... great table chefs, by the way!... and Gonzo happened to be there having dinner with his family.  I didn't want to pester him during dinner -- but the owner of the restaurant, Mr. Ahn, Luis' 'Dad' (you have to catch the TV commercials to understand), invited Luis over to say hello after they finished eating.  He's very nice in person -- I shared our World Series experience with him and mentioned the work he's done with Make-a-Wish in Arizona and Florida.  A very cool guy -- he made my day!  Oh, and the New York Steak was top-notch!
